Creative visual thinking is a process that is usually best approached as a problem-solving discipline. In other words to achieve a feasible solution, creative thinking and practical problem-solving need to happen at the same time. In order to formulated your ideas and communicate them clearly, you need to take a systematic approach.
WORKING TIPS :
- Consider the brief and objectives to develop a strategy.
- Determine the design criteria.
- Research thoroughly.
- Develop and refine the concept.
- Consider your objective, and how communicate it clearly with pictures or words.
- Understand the message. What are you trying to say ?
- List everything related to or associated with your subject.
- Use others as a sounding board-value their responses.
- Brainstorm. Think randomly around your subject.
- Use a thesaurus, dictionary and lexicon.
- Explore and play : Cutting, cropping, scalling, reconfiguring, changing textures, photocopying.
- Ruminate and relax. Work for a while on an unrelated task.
- Makes notes. Don’t trust your memory.
- Change directions. If you reach a dead end, accept that you might be on the wrong road. Look at other routes.
- Trust your intution. If you get an idea, go with it. Try not to resample someone else’s ideas.
