Sometimes a blurred background serves to draw the reader’s eye to the central portion of the photo.
Note here how the out of focus apricots ( photo on top row, second from left ) frame the sharp kumquats in the center of the picture. Intelligent cropping has kept the kumquats from being overhelmed by the sheer weight of the larger, heavier fruit in the foreground.
